Retro Plates - New Dutch History
Heinen Delfts blauw introduced this year a collection of six new Delft Blue plates. This "Retro" series shows all sorts of scenes for those who are very familiar with the Dutch and our recent past. Because for a chance there are no flowers scenes or mills but recognizable images for everyone.
If you grew up in the Netherlands between 1960 and 1990, these are scenes that took place in daily life. It all started with a crackling moped somewhere on your 16th as suddenly the world became a lot bigger.
Then perhaps a slightly larger car, and from the 60s came the hippies and their Volkswagen vans were a common sight.
The holidays to France, with a caravan along the autoroute. What started as a small caravan nowadays comes in all shapes and sizes. Once arrived at the campsite, the children dive into the pool and their parents can finally enjoy their well-deserved rest.
Timeless is of course the day at the beach. Because whether this is a day in a recent past or a long time ago, sun, sea and sand remain an unforgettable combination.
Unfortunately, the Elfstedentocht is no longer recent past. As it has been 1997 since its last run Yet this tour that has been skated in Friesland since 1909 is something we still look forward to every winter . Because you never know .. you feel the cold almost coming out off the plate.
The designs of these Delft blue plates are hand painted. The image is then placed on the plates via a transfer process (A type of printing).
These are not small plates, with a diameter of no less than 26 cm, these are sturdy plates that make an impression. The plates come in a cardboard box and can be hung on the wall with the help of a piece of bent wire (supplied).
